Not So Ugly Christmas Sweaters

It's like Christmas is only three weeks away or something... oh wait it is. Maybe that's why Christmas parties are all I'm hearing about lately. I've been thinking about what to wear to my work's Christmas party as well as my Boyfriend's office Christmas party. I don't feel like wearing a dress and I certainly don't want to show up in an ugly Christmas sweater. I've decided that a cute Christmas themed sweater would be my safest option. Lauren Conrad posted a photo of her in holiday attire for her segment on Extra and it inspired me.

She looks absolutely adorable in her Ho Ho Ho sweater and leather leggings. Only thing is that the sweater is $325... A little pricey for something you only get to wear around Christmas. So that's why I have compiled a list of inexpensive Holiday sweaters and where you can get yours!

First up is this cute little Mistletoe sweater from ASOS. At $56.00 it's still fairly affordable and its made of angora wool.
Second is another cute one from ASOS. This Christmas Cat sweater is $57.00 and has a sweet little kitty on it.
Third up is this bow sweater. You can wear it to a Christmas party or on a daily basis. Only $27.80 from Forever 21.
I'm never one to wear anything by Roxy, but I do find this sweater pretty wearable! At only $25.99 the price isn't bad either.
I also found this red reindeer sweater on Ebay for $16.00. For that price you really can't go wrong. I've also been looking on Amazon for Christmas gifts and they have similar items for a good price!
If you're feeling extra creative and have the materials laying around why not make your own Christmas sweater? Kayla from Freckles in April decided to make her own and I absolutely love how it turned out! I may have to do this myself. Find her DIY here.

Fall Winter Trend: Knit Sweaters and Skirts

Lately I've been really into knit sweaters with skirts. I don't know what it is, but I think it's a great look for fall/winter. I have also been on the hunt for the perfect pair of thigh high socks. My main concern with thigh high socks is having them fall down or having to pull them up all the time. I finally found a pair of tights from Urban Outfitters that gives the illusion of thigh high socks! Now they won't fall down... hopefully. (LOL)

Anyways, back to the knit sweaters with skirts trend. Here are a few outfits that I'm in love with:

Men's Fashion

I was recently asked to style a men's photo shoot. I didn't know much about it, but decided to give it a go. I'm definitely no expert in men's fashion, but I know a little bit. I went to Zara and stocked up on the latest fashions. The photo's turned out extremely well thanks to the awesome team! Thank you to photographer Mark Gilchrist who found my styling portfolio on Model Mayhem.

Greta Tu

In my random web browsing I came across an absolutely stunning image of a portrait of a girl with scenery layered over top. This image captivated me and I couldn't hold off sharing her work because her photography almost hurts it's so beautiful. Her name is Greta Tu and she is only 18. Hard to believe she's so young and her images are so gorgeous. Yet again young people are capable of achieving anything they set their mind too. I hope to work with her one day as her images are so inspiring. Unfortunately she's all the way in Denmark, but her images will continue to inspire me on a daily basis.

Check out more of her images on her Facebook page and her Blog

Hey Flamingo!

Halloween has been thrust upon us, whether you are ready for it or not. For me Halloween is already over. I have spent endless hours slaving away on costumes and I am very happy that I won't have to do that again for a whole year. This Halloween I had two costumes to make, one for myself and one for my coworker Trevor. He insisted that I make him a Captain Planet onesie. I have to admit I had never heard of Captain Planet until Trevor explained who this cartoon character is. The end result ended up being fantastic and Trevor plans to continue wearing his onesie while lounging and snowboarding.

Now onto my costume. I found some very cute pictures on Pinterest of Flamingo costumes and decided that I was going to make my own costume. I didn't quite see any costumes that included as many feathers as I would have liked to I chose to whip up a costume of my own that included 8 feather boas. Yes I was a walking fluff ball, but what girl doesn't dream of wearing a dress made entirely out of pink feathers! I didn't particularly want to wear a beak on my face all night so I decided to make a Flamingo head headpiece. I have never felt more like a girl than I did in this costume. Being covered in hot pink head to toe made me feel almost overly feminine. I was constantly updating my co workers on my progress on both costumes and my other coworker Kerri found me a pair of hot pink feathered eyelashes that ended up being the perfect finishing touch that pulled the costume together. (Thanks Kerri!) I absolutely loved my costume this year! And my awesome friends for making it such a fun night!

Return of the Leg Warmers

When you think of leg warmers you probably think of a ballerina or some sort of 80's Flashdance character. Well ladies and gentlemen leg warmers are making a comeback whether you like it or not. I bought a pair of creme knit leg warmers a few years back on Boxing day from Aldo. They hadn't made it out of my closet until yesterday. I wore them so that they were sticking out of my boot and looked like boot toppers. They kept my legs nice and toasty warm all through the crisp fall day.

There are so many ways you can wear them. With or without boots, over a pair of booties or with a cute pair of flats. You can even cut them to just stick out the top of your boots or fold them over like a pair of boot toppers.

Anyway you decide to wear them, they are a cute addition to your fall/winter wardrobe and will leave you feeling toasty warm.
